The HRios Ecobarreira Inteligente technology is an environmental station for monitoring, collecting and storing solid waste and microplastics in rivers and tributaries, which, through a remote sensing system, uses 100% renewable energy.

This Tecnology was developed to attend the most deversified types of rivers, logistics and transportation to be implemented in remote and distant sites, as well as operational financial viability in poorest áreas deprived from basic swage conditions.

Current scenario
Current reports have proven that 80% of the plastic materials found in the oceans are originated from rivers and afluents, do to the absence of effective public policies regarding to preventive measures for innapropriate littering and recycling standards. Every year the environment has been degradeted, Leading to expressive economic loss over U$10 billions, impacting the turism sector, fishing and agriculture activites.
Current scenario
The Guanabara Bay receives 98 tons of trash daily according to ABRELPE (Brazilian Association of Public Cleaning and Special Waste Companies). It directly receives all types of waste such as plastics, wood, metals, paper, and others, polluting the entire ecosystem and the local sea economy.
Competing tecnologies
Traditional eco-barriers are used as palliatives in many rivers in various regions of Brazil and the world, and they have always presented great challenges, be it in efficiency or environmental aspects. These eco-barriers require continuous monitoring by people on site, as well as the assistance of tractors to collect the waste. Another serious factor is that when an eco-barrier is installed in a river close to the sea, the passage of canoes and small fishing boats is interrupted.
Reverse Logistics
The law 12.305/2010 regulates the appropriate handling of waste and settles two other instruments to enable reverse logistics: Commitment Term and the Sectorial Agreement. Currently, the minimum amount that a company needs to prove in relation to the Reverse Logistics of packaging is 22% of all the mass of packaging sold in the reference year.

SOLUTION

Technological System HRios

The system makes use of the rivers flows to canalize the solid waste materials in a storage collecting filter through an automatic gate, that shuts upon an opposit water flow.

Solid and pneumatic barriers  are installed in the river to drive the floating waste inside the storage filter. These barriers are placed according to the river tides, depth and shores.

The air driven system, pushes the solid waste and microplastic organisms in moviment under water to the surface.

HRIOS

Technology

SOLAR ENERGY AND CONNECTIVITY

A photovoltaic system with off-grid batteries keeps the automated operation running and feeds an online MQTT platform, with GSM/GPRS connectivity for remote sensing and data analysis.

MONITORING AND
BIG DATA (IoT)

The device has cameras for recording images of the collected waste, generating databases and analytical reports for warning actions and governmental strategies based on a big data.

UNRESTRICTED
LOGISTICS

HRios dimensions were developed to be transported without restrictions in urban areas and highways by a regular size truck.

Several benefits for private initiative

Private Initiative Marketing

Waste-generating companies can contract the services of HRios for collection, disposal, and manifest, in compliance with ENVIRONMENTAL LAW 12.305/2010.

The HRios will be characterized and fit according to the customer’s instructions, ensuring communication with their audience and their commitment to the environment.
